Panasonic Lumix FX01
The World’s Smallest* 28mm Wide-Angle** Lens and MEGA O.I.S.
*For a digital still camera with optical zoom, as of February 14th, 2006
**35mm equivalent at wide angle
Bright F2.8, Wide-Angle 28mm* LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT Lens
The LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens on the FX01 employs an extra high
refractive index aspherical lens that makes it possible to incorporate a wide
28mm zoom into its compact body. Spanning all the way from 28mm to
102mm (35mm equivalent), this lens lets you capture everything from
sweeping landscapes to shots with deep rows of skyscrapers. The Extra
Optical Zoom function, which magnifies the image with minimal
deterioration by using the centre part of the high-resolution CCD, boosts the
zoom power to a maximum 5x**.
*35mm equivalent at wide-angle. ** Varies depending on the selected image size and aspect ratio.
Compared with conventional 35mm lens, the FX01’s
wide 28mm zoom lens makes it easier to capture an
indoor group photo, architecture and sceneries with
dynamic width and rich perspective.
Helps Prevent Motion Blur — High Sensitivity Mode*
This mode helps suppress motion blur by automatically setting the ISO sensitivity up to 1600, which increases the shutter speed. It also lets you take clearer, sharper shots of moving subjects like children or pets in dim lighting without using a flash. The picture quality is good enough for printing at the ordinary 4″ x 6″ (10 x 15 cm) size.
*When using High Sensitivity mode, resolution significantly decreases.
A Large, Bright 2.5″ High-Resolution LCD with High Angle Mode
With its 2.5″ size and 207,000 pixels, this high-resolution LCD monitor
makes it easy to see text and small thumbnail images. The pixel-mixed readout method performed by the CCD increases the brightness level of the live image on the LCD, which greatly facilitates shooting in low lighting. If it’s difficult to see the display on a sunny day, simply press the Power LCD button and the display becomes about 40% brighter. The world’s first* developed High Angle shooting also provides easier viewing when you’re holding the camera high to shoot over the heads of people in front of you.

Quick Response and Comfortable Shooting
The FX01 starts up in just 1.6 seconds — about 20% shorter than the
FX9, has a release time lag as low as 0.005 seconds*, and can fire off up
to 8 consecutive shots at 3 frames per second in Standard mode. It also
has Unlimited Consecutive Shooting**, so you can keep shooting until
the SD Memory Card is full. Furthermore, the 1-point high-speed AF is
as fast as the FX9 to achieve outstanding focusing with speed and
precision. You can shoot quickly, easily and accurately every time.
*Not including auto-focusing time.
**The consecutive shooting speed varies depending on the memory card.
Up to 320 Shots On a Single Charge
Thanks to the energy-saving Venus Engine Plus and a long-lasting battery, the
It takes slim FX01 lets you take shot after shot without running out of power.
around 320* shots on a single battery charge – about 18% more than the FX9.
*Based on CIPA. Battery charge time is affected by storage and usage conditions. Also, a longer shooting interval reduces the number of photos that can be taken between battery charges.
Flexible Shooting to Match the Scene
Mode Dial
You can view them as a slide show, in a 1-, 9-, or 25-window display, or in a
Calendar View that shows thumbnails of all images taken on a particular
date. Right inside the camera, you can organize your images for easier
access – handy when you’ve taken a lot of shots.
Motion Image Mode
In addition to VGA-size (640×480-pixel) motion image recording, the FX01
records beautiful full-size movies in Wide VGA-size (848×480-pixel) at 30
frames per second which is especially good for viewing on wide screen TV.
The brightness level of the motion images are enhanced because of the high
sensitivity CCD that adopts the pixel-mixed readout method.
Scene Mode
Select one of the following 16 modes according to the shooting conditions. Pressing the left of the cursor button opens a help screen that explains what each mode is for.
